The Skill / Market Matrix

In this newsletter, I'll walk you through how to generate limitless ideas in any niche.

Stick with me until the end—I’ve got a challenge and a handy template waiting for you!

First things first, you need to find your Million-Dollar Idea.

Now, what exactly is a Million-Dollar Idea?

It's not what you think.

A Million-Dollar Idea isn't about reinventing the wheel or coming up with something never seen before.

It's about finding the sweet spot where:

  1. Your skills and expertise intersect with...

  2. A growing market need, and...

  3. Your ability to deliver unique value

It's an idea that solves a real problem for real people who are willing to pay real money.

Here’s how to find yours:

Step A: Uncover your top skills

→ List 10 things you're good at (personal and professional)

→ Ask 5 friends/colleagues what they think you excel at

→ Review your past job responsibilities and achievements

Step B: Identify growing niche markets

→ Use Google Trends to find 5 growing topics in your areas of interest

→ Check the top 100 bestsellers on Amazon in 3 different categories

→ Browse AngelList to see what startups are getting funded

(Check the Top 500 Niche list for ideation)

Step C: Find the perfect intersection

Create a 10x5 grid or use this template

→ Your skills on one axis, growing markets/niche on the other

→ In each cell, write a potential business idea combining that skill and niche

→ Circle the top 3 ideas that excite you the most

Example:

Let's say one of your skills is graphic design, and you've identified sustainable living as a growing niche market.

In the cell write your idea: "Design infographics for eco-friendly brands to explain their environmental impact "
